In 2003 Dave won Best on Show at the Scottburgh Art Festival and in 2004 and 2005 was the overall winner of the Kwazulu Natal Branch of the Watercolour Society's annual competitions of which he is now an associate member. and believes that watercolour is the medium whereby he can express his talent most effectively. Although watercolour is arguably the most difficult of mediums it is the most beautiful and tranquil and in none of the others can light and translucence be as brilliantly captured. The viewer will not find "pale" "wishy-washy" or "usual amongst his works, rather the whimsical and quirky; watch out for the coke can. Expect colour as well including his fondness for deep contrast monotones. In 2008 Dave held his first successful solo exhibition at The Lindsay Gallery in Durban. Dave and his wife Wendy have recently left South Africa for Canada so we look forward to seeing some entirely new subject matter from Dave's easel. She is an eclectic, acrylic, passionate and impressionistic artist whose work reflects her vibrant personality. Judy paints upside down and her work is also used for handbags, cards and wrapping paper. Frances obtained a Master's Degree from the University of Fine Art in Dresden. Her prior studies were done at the University of Applied Arts in Schneeburg, Germany. Everett first studied graphic art in South Africa. He later completed his fine art studies at the University of Fine Art in Dresden Germany. Both artists live and work in South Africa and Germany. Mpenja is found in private and corporate collections in Austria, Belgium, Botswana, Canada, England and recently the artists exhibited in Germany and Switzerland by invitation. In June 2008, Everett and Frances exhibited along with a selection of very well known artists in Frankfurt and the combination, along with an African festival, was very well received. The following two shows were in Bern Switzerland in September, both exhibitions proving to be of great interest to the cultural and art scene in the area. The experience of exhibiting in a castle added a sense of drama to the show. In February 2009 they returned to Bern for a selected exhibition in Galerie Pappilon which proved to be the most successful. In June 2009 Everett and Frances will return to Frankfurt for a new exhibition in the Heistand Wine Estate on the Rhine.
